Pacific Pacesetters - The Details

 

The first thing you should know is that everybody wins at Pacesetters.  If you participate in the entire event, you are guaranteed between $1,000 and $5,000 in annual Pacesetters scholarships in addition to previously awarded merit scholarships.  Our two highest scoring Pacesetters will receive a full-tuition scholarship for all four years.

For the competition, students will participate in two sections: Individual Problem Solving and Creative Writing.  Both sections are created, proctored, and graded by faculty. 


Individual Problem Solving – This section is largely logic-based story problems that students are asked to solve without a calculator. 

 

Creative Writing – For this section, students will be given a prompt about which they are expected to write critically and imaginatively.

 

Both students and parents have the opportunity to learn more about Pacific by meeting faculty and attending academic information sessions focused around specific courses of study, by connecting with current students, by touring campus, by interacting with our coaching staff and our new athletic facility, and by receiving more information about the services Pacific University provides. In order to accomodate as many students as possible, we only allow each student one guest.

Participating students traveling over 200 miles may have up to $300 of their airfare reimbursed if they attend one of the scheduled days and enroll at Pacific.  Click here for more information regarding travel cost reimbursement.

Students with grades or scores below the recommended averages will be placed on a waiting list and considered on a space available basis.
