OPS Newsletters

Greetings From the Office of Parent Support

The Office of Parent Support, also known as "OPS", was founded by several Pacific staff members who are also parents. No matter how far along your student is - freshman all the way to senior - we understand the powerful bond you share and your strong desire to aid in your student's college success. Our goal in OPS is to help you examine your own transition, while at the same time provide you with tools and information to assist your student in navigating University life. You will hear from us periodically this year via a monthly e-mail newsletter and various special events scheduled in the fall and spring. You're a valued member of our family and we're here to help if and when you need us.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our OPS staff:

Eva Krebs
Vice President of Students Affairs & Dean of Students
Eva oversees the division of Student Life and responds to a variety of parent and student concerns across campus. Eva is originally from the great state of Indiana and has been in Oregon for 11 years. Eva has two grown children, three grandchildren, and many years of experience with college students.

Julie Murray-Jensen
Assistant Dean of Students

Julie will be serving OPS by coordinating several parent events this year. If you want to get connected to Pacific through parent activities, she is the one to call. Julie is originally from Omaha, Nebraska and has been in Oregon for six years. She recently had a baby girl and will be happy to show her off to anyone who is interested at one of the events!

Ingrid Unterseher
Exec. Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs

Ingrid is the individual most likely to respond if you call or e-mail OPS with a question. Ingrid grew up in Oregon and has been at Pacific for 16 years. She has two grown sons, one who attended Pacific himself, and is a terrific resource for almost any question you have about Pacific or college in general.

Denise Giesbers '00
Director of Communications, Information & Division Visibility

Denise coordinates all OPS publications and websites which can be viewed at www.pacificu.edu/parent. Denise is originally from Eastern Oregon and was a student at Pacific herself. She now has two young sons ages 5 and 2 who keep her very busy.

Edna K. Gehring '70, MS '72
Director of Learning Support Services and Multicultural Services

Edna works with parents from the Islands and parents of students who have learning or physical disabilities. Edna has a long history with Pacific. She was a student and met her husband Hans '72 while attending Pacific. Years later their daughter Christie '02 graduated from Pacific. A native Hawaiian, Aunty Edna has served as the Hawaiian Club advisor for the past 24 years and recently the club celebrated its 47th annual Lu`au.

Kathy Cooper
Administrative Assistant for the Division of Student Life

Kathy provides overall support for OPS. If you come to campus and visit the Office of Student Life (located in the University Center), you will most likely be greeted by Kathy who is always happy to assist you. Kathy has two children, a son and daughter, who keep her busy with sports. She has worked in several areas of the University and is an especially good resource.

The Office of Parent Support staff are at your service. Please let us know if and how we can help you and we will be glad to assist.
