Financial Aid

Need-based aid in the form of grants, loans, work-study, and other funding is available to those who demonstrate financial need. Visit the financial aid website.

Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP)

Staring this Fall, Pacific University will participate in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). This program offers incoming Pharmacy students subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Students who demonstrate need are eligible to borrow subsidized Federal Direct Stafford Loans; students who do not show need or who have remaining unmet need are eligible to borrow unsubsidized Federal Direct Stafford Loans. Subsidized loans do not accrue interest while students are enrolled and for a six-month grace period afterward. Unsubsidized loans begin accruing interest when they are disbursed. Pharmacy students can borrow up to $20,500 per academic year. The interest rate will be fixed at 6.8%.

FAFSA

FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is very important that you submit this form to the federal government as soon as possible after January 1st. Be sure to have a copy sent to Pacific University (Federal School Code 003212). Do not wait to be accepted into a program to apply for financial aid and do not wait until you have filed your income tax returns with the IRS. You should either estimate your income - you will have a chance to correct errors later - or complete your tax returns early. If you wait, it will delay the processing.

You can obtain a FAFSA application in the paper version from the financial aid office at any college or university, the public library, or by calling 1-800-4-FED-AID. You can also fill out a web-based version of the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov (step-by-step instructions are provided on this site). Filling out the FAFSA online allows you to get your Student Aid Report (SAR) sooner than with the paper application, and your FAFSA will be more accurate, since the online form has built-in edit checks to catch simple errors.
