Pacific University School of Pharmacy does accept international applicants.  International students must complete the same application requirements mandatory for all applicants.

Foreign Coursework

Applicants must have all coursework completed at foreign colleges or universities (non-US or non-Canadian colleges, universities or graduate schools) evaluated by a third party organization.  All transcripts from foreign colleges or universities must receive both a credential evaluation and course-by-course evaluation from a certified agency.  These transcripts and evaluations are required even if the coursework does not apply toward the pharmacy prerequisites.  Pacific University School of Pharmacy will only accept evaluations from the following certified agencies: Educational Credentials Evaluations (ECE) or World Education Services (WES). Official evaluations from WES or ECE must be sent to the Office of Admissions, along with the other supplemental application materials (letters of evaluation and resume/CV), in order for an application to be considered complete.

School of Pharmacy English Proficiency Policy

A satisfactory command of the English language is required for admission to Pacific University. All graduate students whose first language is not English must meet the English language proficiency requirement prior to admission. Please note that this requirement applies to all applicants, including resident aliens and citizens.

Requiring valid proof of English language proficiency is a mandate of the Graduate & Professional Programs & Colleges. Thus, only the program or College can approve any exceptions.

The School of Pharmacy requires proof of English Language Proficiency for all applicants whose first language is not English.  Please see the English Language Proficiency Policy for more information.  All test scores (TOEFL or IELTS) must be received by our final application deadline to ensure consideration of the application. 

Foreign Pharmacy Education

Applicants who completed a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from a foreign college or university are handled on a case-by-case basis. Applicants are encouraged to complete an unofficial prerequisite worksheet first to have their foreign coursework evaluated by the Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions. As mentioned above, all foreign coursework must receive an official evaluation by a certified agency (ECE or WES). Several factors will be taken into consideration when evaluating any previous foreign pharmacy education: coursework completed, grades received, duration of study, and the length of time passed since completion of the pharmacy degree.  Based on these factors, some of the School of Pharmacy prerequisite courses may be waived.  The Admissions Committee for the School of Pharmacy makes all final decisions about the use of foreign pharmacy courses to meet prerequisite requirements.

Applicants with bachelor’s degrees in pharmacy from foreign colleges/universities are often required to complete the following prerequisite courses at an accredited college or university in the United States no later than mid-July before matriculation occurs in August.

In addition to these prerequisite courses, applicants must also complete 40 hours of observation in a pharmacy (either shadowed or paid).  Please consider the 40 hours a MINIMUM.  Additional observation hours can help the competitiveness of your application.  Ideally all of these hours are completed in a pharmacy or pharmacies in the United States.
