Prerequisites
To be eligible for admission to the Pharm.D. program, applicants must complete a minimum of 62 semester hours of pre-pharmacy study in an accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants must achieve a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent, and have received a grade of "C" or better in all prerequisite courses. While a bachelor's degree is not required in order to apply to the Pharm.D. program, it can make an application more competitive. It is recommended that all required coursework be completed within seven calendar years of the time of application to the program.
Biological Sciences - min. 19 semester hours or 29 quarter hours
- General Biology w/labs - 8 semester hours (12 qtr hrs)
- Microbiology (lab not required) - 3 semester hours (4 qtr hrs)
- Human Anatomy and Human Physiology - 8 semester hours (12 qtr hrs)
Must be the Human A&P series with all parts taken at
the same institution
Chemistry - min. 16 semester hours or 24 quarter hours
- General Chemistry w/labs - 8 semester hours (12 qrt hrs)
- Organic Chemistry w/labs - 8 semester hours (12 qtr hrs)
Physics - 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours
- General or upper-level Physics w/lab - 3 semester hours (4 qrt hrs)
Mathematics - 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours
- Must include Calculus - 3 semester hours (4 qrt hrs)
English - 6 semester hours or 8 quarter hours
- Must include English composition - 3 semester hours (3 qrt hrs)
- Other English - 3 semester hours (5 qrt hrs)
Including: Composition, Literature, Creative Writing, Poetry, etc
Speech - 3 semester hours or 3 quarter hours
