Advanced Standing
Students who have taken courses that may fulfill a part of the curriculum requirement may apply for advanced standing.
Advanced standing:
- Substitutes for a particular course in the TDPT program
- Earns all or part of the credits for the TDPT course
- Is billed an administrative transfer fee rather than tuition for the credits earned
Courses considered for advanced standing include but are not limited to:
Manual therapy coursework:
- North American Institute of Manual Therapy (NAIOMT)
- Kaiser Permanente Hayward Manual Therapy Fellowship in Advanced Orthopedics
- Other formalized manual therapy residencies, fellowships, or training programs
Post-professional academic coursework:
- Graduate level (400 series or above)
- From an accredited university
Competency-based training program
- APTA Section on Women’s Health CAPP
Advanced standing will not be considered prior to admission to the TDPT program.
Advanced standing requests should be sent to the TDPT office and include:
- A formal letter requesting a specific course within the curriculum be waived
- An official transcript for the course being considered for equivalency, unless it was included with the application for admission to the TDPT program
- A detailed course syllabus including an outline of course content, credits, required textbooks and readings, and clock hours
- Catalog course descriptions are not acceptable as course syllabi
