Reunion takes place the third full weekend in June. This year Reunion will be held June 19-21. All alumni are welcome and invited to attend.
Special recognition will be given to alumni of all colleges who graduated in the years 1929, 1934, 1939, 1944, 1949, 1954, 1959, 1969, 1979, 1984, 1989 and 1999.
Alumni who graduated in 1959 will be inducted into the Golden Guard. Alumni who graduated prior to 1959 and who have not been inducted into the Golden Guard will have opportunity to be inducted.
What is the Golden Guard?
The Golden Guard is Pacific University’s honorary club for alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago. Special events are held for the 50th Reunion Class and the Golden Guard throughout the weekend. 50th Reunion attendees have the opportunity to inscribe their name in the Golden Guard sidewalk. Alumni who graduated prior to 1959 who have not already signed the sidewalk will have opportunity to do so.
If it's not my reunion year, why am I getting mail about the reunion?
Pacific University is a small community where people were often friends with members of classes before or after theirs. Also, sometimes people did not graduate in four years, but in three or five. Thus, in organizing reunions, we focus the committee organization on a specific year, but invite all alumni.
Yes! RSVPs help us know how much food to order and how many seats to provide. Even if an event is free, it is greatly helpful for the Alumni Office to know how many guests to expect. Please RSVP by June 1.
What should I wear?
Most Reunion events require casual summer attire, with a light jacket or sweater in the evening. The Alumni Honors Gala is a semi-formal seated dinner.
I have a dietary restriction; will there be food for me?
The catering staff can accommodate most dietary restrictions and allergies, (vegetarian, vegan, gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance, etc.) but it must be noted on your reservation.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes! Children are welcome at all events except the wine tour, though parents are required to look after them for their safety. Picnic Under the Oaks is designed to be particularly family friendly and a special kids reading hour will be held during “Classes without Quizzes.”
Why do I have to pay to attend Reunion events?
The registration fees help pay for student staff, postage, printing, flowers, rental of tables, chairs, china and linens, mementos, nametags and catering. The University greatly subsidizes Reunion in an attempt to make Reunion affordable for all alumni.
Why do I have to pay to stay in Gilbert Hall?
This fee covers custodial charges to clean the rooms and bathrooms; renting the sheets and towels general expenses associated with having the building open.
Is there a late fee? Is there an “Early Bird” discount?
There is no late fee, though reservations are appreciated before June 1. Guests who register before June 1 are rewarded with a 10% discount.
Are there tickets for Reunion 2009?
A confirmation will be sent via postal mail within a week of registration. Nametags are required to gain entry to all events. Nametags can be picked up at the guest check-in area during the weekend.
