Staff Senate
The Staff Governance proposal evolved out of an examination of the existing university governance system. Manager’s Council was charged to consider changes to the current staff structure. A task force was formed to research and propose a staff governing body that would complement Faculty and Student governance.
The current staff governance model is divided between the Manager’s Council (MC) and the Staff Steering Committee (SSC). The new organization will complement the recently adopted Faculty Senate, as well as the future student government model. Together, these three entities combined will strengthen tradition, transition and transformation within the Pacific University community. In the constantly changing educational environment, we need shared governance that can adapt and respond in a timely and effective manner.
The new Staff Senate recognizes that an exemplary organization thrives when all the members are committed to the highest standards of productivity and social responsibility; where individuals truly feel they make a difference, and where communication is open, honest and reciprocal. Active participation and meaningful discussion will motivate Senators to be committed to the process. In the Pacific University community, the Staff Senate’s role is to be an active, productive and essential part of the larger shared governance system. Making a difference is just the beginning.
The Staff Governance Task Force is pleased to announce the results of the recent election for the new Staff Senate.
