Professional Staff

Director of Housing
The Director of Housing is responsible for the management of the on-campus student housing operation. This person assists students in housingrelated matters and problem-solving. The Director of Housing works with students, parents, faculty and staff to ensure that housing policies and procedures are well-communicated and benefi cial to all affected parties. This position strives to routinely improve housing processes,

so that students’ needs and concerns are being anticipated and addressed. The Director serves as a divisional liaison to Facilities, Information Services, Business Office, Dining Services, International Office and Admissions. This person supervises the Housing Specialist and works closely with the Director of Residence Life and Resident Directors. The Director of Housing reports to the Associate Dean of Undergraduates.

Director of Residence Life
The Director of Residence Life directly supervises the Resident Director (RD) staff. This person strives to routinely implement the values within Housing & Residence Life and develop the community culture through leadership, staff, and daily interactions. With the Director of Housing, this person supervises the overall direction of the department, including staffing, budget, and policy. The Director of Residence Life works closely with facilities personnel and RDs to coordinate a well-maintained housing operation. The Director of Residence Life reports to the Associate Dean of Undergraduates.

Housing Specialist
The Housing Specialist serves as a resource for students and their parents regarding housing policies and procedures. This person assists the Director of Housing with processes such as housing assignments, housing lottery, room and meal plan changes and room and board billing. The Housing Specialist reports to the Director of Housing and also works closely with the Director of Residence Life and the Resident Directors.

Resident Directors (RD’s)
The RD’s are full-time, professional staff members who live year-round on campus. They are responsible for their entire residential building, including supervising and training student staff, overseeing hall programming, managing facilities, advising, and promoting respectful conduct. Each RD also oversees one of the following program coordination areas: Assessment & Programming, Hall Councils, Housing & Marketing, Leadership & Development, and Residence Housing Association. Each RD reports to the Director of Residence Life.

Student Staff

Resident Assistants (RA’s)
RA’s are full-time students and serve in a paraprofessional leadership position. The RA’s primary responsibility is to assist the RDs in managing the housing operations. they also build a sense of community and respect on each fl oor and maintain University policy. RA’s are responsible for planning activities that encourage involvement and interaction on each fl oor. They have been trained to be someone with whom you can talk and to be a link to many campus services and resources. Each RA reports to the Resident Director of their building.
Resident Assistants

Assistant Resident Directors (ARD’s)
An ARD is a senior student staff member in Vandervelden Court. In addition to carrying out the responsibilities of a RA, the ARD works closely with the RD to monitor the overall atmosphere of Vandervelden for its residents. The ARD holds eight weekly office hours.

Network Assistants (NA’s)
NAs are full-time students and serve as a technical resource in the halls. The NA’s primary responsibility is to assist students with technology-related concerns. The NAs are available to help you with technology questions that may arise when the Technical Information Center is closed or require in-room assistance. NA’s report to the Resident Director of the building in which they reside.
