Important Note:
If you will be absent from campus for the Winter III term only, you do not need to report this to the Housing Office.

ROOM RATES:
Room rates are billed on a two-semester basis which includes Winter III term. No room refund will be issued for this term and your Spring rent may be prorated. See the 2007-2008 Pacific University catalog for details.

MEAL PLAN RATES:
Meal plan rates are billed on a two term basis, which includes Winter III term. No meal plan refund will be issued for this term.

MEAL PLAN INFORMATION:

Your fall semester meal plan ends on January 12. Use your block meals before this date. Meal plan changes will be allowed during the first two weeks of Spring Semester. Changes must be requested in writing in the Student Life Office during this time period. Changes will be reflected on your student account at the end of February.

MOVING OFF CAMPUS:
Housing contracts are binding for the full academic year and waivers are rare.

If you wish to move off campus you must meet the criteria for cancelling your contract as stated in the Residence Life/Vandervelden Court Handbook, or meet the Residency Waiver criteria. Waiver request forms may be obtained at the Student Life Office. If eligible, submit the form to the Student Life Office by Monday, November 26. Decisions will be sent to your e-mail address on Friday, November 30.

Students moving off campus without committee approval may be charged a breach of contract fee up to $500, and the student will be responsible for payment of both room and board fees through the end of the academic year.

If you anticipate moving off campus, you must fill out the on-line Housing Status Form by Wednesday, November 21 at noon.

CHECKING OUT OF YOUR ROOM:
If you are graduating, studying abroad, approved to move off campus or not returning to Pacific, you must check out of your room. A Room Condition Report (RCR) must be completed with your Resident Assistant or Resident Director. You must check out of your room by the dates listed on the Room and Board Calendar. These steps must be completed in order to avoid any fines as stated in the Residence Life/Vandervelden Court Handbook.

You will continue to be billed for room and board until your check-out paperwork is returned to the Housing Office by your Resident Director. Once received, your student account will be updated appropriately.

If you are planning on checking out of your room you must fill out the on-line Housing Status Form by Wednesday, November 21 at noon.

END OF FALL SEMESTER ROOM CHANGE INFORMATION:
The following types of room changes will be allowed if requested between Tuesday, November 27 and Friday, November 30, and approved:

  • You may move into a room currently occupied by a friend who does not have a roommate or who has a roommate that intends to move out by the end of the Fall Semester.
  • You may trade rooms (singles, double singles and single suites are excluded at this time).
  • *You may apply for an empty double, single, or single suite that is currently vacant.
  • You may move into any open room or anticipated open room in Burlingham Hall.

*Please Note: any rooms that become completely vacant at the end of the Fall Semester or the end of Winter Three will be held until the Room Change period in February, so that all students have an equal opportunity to apply for them. The Housing Office reserves the right to alter this policy at their discretion.

If you are interested in chaning rooms as outline above, stop by the housing and residence life ofice for further details.

WINTER THREE:
If you are not enrolled in a Winter Three course or will be taking a Winter Three course off campus, you do not need to inform the Housing Office of your plans, as long as you will be returning to your room for Spring Semester.
