ALL HALLS & APARTMENTS
BED & BATH – Most beds are 80" long, so we advise that you purchase extra long fitted or flat sheets, however, regular sheets also fit with a stretch. Don't forget a good mattress cover, as many end-of-the-year charges to students are due to mattress stains; many of these charges are easily avoidable with a mattress cover. For units with bathrooms, don't forget toilet paper, hand soap, hand towels, a wastebasket, and cleaning supplies. Refrigerators four cubic feet or smaller are permitted in rooms. Each residence hall has a kitchen equipped with a microwave and oven for your use. Community barbeques are also available outside of some halls. COMPUTING & NETWORK RESOURCES- All students attending Pacific University will automatically receive an e-mail account and will have access to the online library information system, various file servers, computer labs, the campus Intranet and the world wide Internet. The campus residence halls are Ethernet enabled, and wireless network access is offered in hall lobbies, all Burlingham Hall apartments, and many other areas on campus. Students are encouraged to bring personal computers with them to enhance their college experience. For details about what kind of computer to bring to campus, refer to University Information Services. On campus, there are numerous locations for students to connect personal laptop computers and several general-purpose computer facilities that provided software packages for word processing, spreadsheets and presentation graphics, research, e-mail access and Internet exploration. Color and black and white laser printing is available on a cost-per-copy basis. Students will receive complete information about computing and network resources during Orienation. NOTE: The University uses voice mail and e-mail as an official mode of communication. You are expected to fully utilize the system to receive important University information. |
PETS - Residents and guests are prohibited from possessing or transporting animals or unapproved pets in campus housing at all times. As defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, a person with a disability who is visiting campus housing may bring their service animal into the building with them. Residents must apply to keep approved pets in their room and receive written approval from their RD. For more particulars and application information, contact your Resident Director. CARS - If you bring your car you'll need to register your vehicle with Campus Public Safety and purchase a parking permit through the Pacific Information Center in the University Center. Parking is sometimes difficult to find and you can easily get around Forest Grove on foot or bike. The public bus system is inexpensive and leaves for Portland approximately every 20 minutes. The bus stop is half a block from campus. The MAX Lightrail system is also available and runs from Hillsboro through Portland to Gresham or the Airport. Click here for more information about parking on campus. |
