Consider commute time to clinical rotations before choosing housing and/or transportation options. If possible travel the route, before signing a lease agreement, so you know the condition of the roads, time involved and traffic issues to all points of destination.

Commute time from Portland to Forest Grove is approximately 30-45 minutes, so don't be afraid to investigate housing there. Keep in mind that rental rates tend to be higher in the Portland area.

Apartments near the Hillsboro Airport may be in direct flight patterns and air traffic noise day and night can be disruptive.

If possible, connect with current students already living in the area. Your professional program may be able to assist you with this.

Before signing a lease agreement, check with current tenants to see how pleased they are with the accommodations and/or landlord.

A month-to-month or short-term lease may be preferable, just in case you change your mind about location, convenience, landlord, etc. once your academic program begins.
