Study Abroad Information
Students Planning to Study Abroad--Fall 2008
How to apply for housing upon your return from a study abroad program:
-
Prior to the April Housing Lottery you will receive Lottery Application materials in your UC Box. Since the Study Abroad Selection Process may not be concluded by the Housing Lottery deadline, you are encouraged to apply for the lottery by submitting all of the necessary application materials and fee. If you're selected to go abroad, your $100.00 lottery fee will be refunded to you and the information listed below will then apply.
If you only anticipate being abroad for the Fall and/or Winter Three term and anticipate living on-campus upon your return the following information will apply:
- The Housing Lottery application will give you an opportunity to select on campus housing space prior to your return (space permitting and pending your eligibility).
- It will not be necessary for you to submit a $100.00 Housing Lottery Entrance Fee.
- You will receive a lottery number this Spring for determining your housing space upon your return and for room change purposes next year.
- If you are placed in a residence hall or a unit without a kitchen you will automatically be billed for an A meal plan. Upon your return you may change your meal plan in the Student Life Office.
- If you are placed in Vandervelden Court and wish to have a meal plan or declining balance you may sign up for one in the Student Life Office upon your return.
- When you return, we will have you sign a Housing Contract.
- The Housing & Residence Life Office will contact you by e-mail in October to gather more information. We will verify your request for housing, and we will discuss housing options available to you. You will be contacted by e-mail again in December if you are requesting housing for Winter Three or in January if you are requesting housing for Spring Semester to be informed of your housing assignment and check-in information.
If you would like to contact us while you're abroad, please e-mail housing@pacificu.edu.
Students Currently Studying Abroad--Spring 2008
How to apply for housing during the Housing Lottery if you are abroad:
-
If you are currently studying abroad, the Housing & Residence Life Office will inform you ahead of time that the Housing Lottery is about to begin. If you want to participate in the April Housing Lottery, you will need to email housing@pacificu.edu and give permission to a fellow student to select your housing. This needs to be done in early March. Be sure to provide the person you appoint with a list of your top housing choices and a meal plan selection if you plan to live in the Residence Halls or a unit without a kitchen. Read the Absentee Room Selection information for details about using a proctor. The Housing & Residence Life Office will e-mail a Housing Confirmation form to you in May and you will be asked to sign a Housing Contract by the end of the first week of classes in the Fall.
