Signing up for the Housing Lottery

By participating in the Housing Lottery process and signing a Housing Confirmation/Contract, you agree to abide by all University rules and regulations. If you provide false or misleading information to improve your lottery position or manipulate the lottery system to give youself or someone else an advantage, you may lose your right to choose space in any university-owned housing and face disciplinary action.

No guarantee is made, however, that the space you wish to reside in will be available for selection. However all lottery entrants are guaranteed some space, although assignments may not occur until the summer.

The Housing & Residence Life Office reserves the right to reassign any individual's housing space at any time.

Your lottery number is randomly drawn based on academic credits earned toward graduation at Pacific University as of the end of Spring Semester 2008 (accepted transfer credits included). The number of credits you have on file in the Registrar's Office as of Friday, March 21, 2008, plus the credits you are currently taking will be used in determining your lottery number. Check Boxer Online to verify your total credits.

Please note: if you are anticipating earning additional credits that you are currently not registered for, you must have the professor or advisor e-mail housing@pacificu.edu no later than Friday, March 21, indicating the course/internship and the number of credits that will be earned. Courses that will be taken over the summer will not be counted.

The lower your lottery number, the higher your priority. (The student with the number "1" will receive top priority.) Lottery numbers will be randomly drawn within each class distinction. Class distinctions will be broken into groups as follows:

Seniors/Prof. Students: 90+ credits
Juniors: (60 - 74.59) & (74.6 - 89.99) credits
Sophomores: (24 - 44.59) & (44.6 - 59.99) credits
Freshmen: 0 - 23.99 credits

For example...

All Students with 90 or more credits who have submitted all lottery application materials by published deadlines will be in the Senior/Professional Students group. A software program will randomly assign a number to each person in this group. The person with the lowest assigned number will get the first lottery number. The second lowest assigned number will get lottery number 2 and so on. This same process is applied to all of the class distinctions.

Note: ELI students will automatically be given sophomore standing for their first full year at Pacific or freshman standing for one semester of attendance.

GPA and grades are not a factor in determining lottery numbers.

Please remember that to obtain a lottery number and participate in the space selection process you must meet all published deadlines and forms must have all information requested.
