Computer Recommendations
Whether you are a new student to Pacific University, or you are a current student looking to upgrade your computer to the latest technology, these specifications will help ensure you purchase the best computer for your needs. Each school has their own specific recommendations and requirements for the personal computing needs of their students. Please select the college or school you're a student in to see the exact specification you will need to have when purchasing a personal computer.
The College of Arts & Sciences and the College of Education feel as if it is essential for students to have laptops compared to desktops. PC or Apple laptops are acceptable for the College of Arts & Sciences as well as the College of Education. Students enrolled in the business disciplines are encouraged to use a PC laptop.
Pacific's graduate programs in the College of Optometry; and the College of Health Profession's Schools of Physician Assistant Studies, Professional Psychology, Dental Health, and Pharmacy all require a PC laptop.
The School of Occupational Therapy and School of Physical Therapy also require a laptop, but allow the use of either PC and Apple laptops.
Be sure to check out the Discount Purchases Programs page for great discounts on Dell and Apple computers, as well as the Organization for Educational Technology and Curriculum (OETC) for software, offered to all Pacific students, faculty and staff.
