Centers and Institutes

Pacific University is home to several centers and institutes that support special research, community engagement, and student activities in key areas.

The Advising Center partners with faculty advisors to meet the advising needs of our students. All current students have an assigned academic advisor.

The Berglund Center at Pacific University is an innovation center and incubator where innovative thinking, entrepreneurship and multidisciplinary team work comes together to launch new products, services and ideas within a vibrant learning community.

The Pacific University Career Development Center offers a full range of career-related services and opportunities for Pacific University students, alumni and partners.

The Pacific University Center for a Sustainable Society provides a collaborative framework for work on reducing the region's environmental footprint.

The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) facilitates experiential learning and cultivates the power of active and informed citizenship, fostering an engaged campus in which students, faculty, and staff work together and with local partners to serve the common good and create change in our community. 

Pacific University Library's Center for Educational Technology and Curricular Innovation provides resources for Pacific University faculty, staff, and students to help them best integrate technology into their teaching and learning.

The Center for Gender Equity (CGE) promotes dialogue, programming, service, research, education and advocacy to support gender equity at Pacific University and in its neighboring communities.


The Center for Global Business Studies carries out research and supports teaching related to international business, with a focus on the people, companies, and economies of the Pacific Northwest. 

The Center for Languages and International Collaboration, or CLIC, provides curricular support, programming and events, and community outreach in support of learning and teaching world languages and cultures.  

The Pacific University Center for Peace and Spirituality provides students with the opportunity to engage in meaningful study, reflection and action based on the recognition that inter- and intra-personal peace are inherently connected and that concerns for personal spirituality are intimately related to concerns for one's social, historical, cultural and natural environment.

It is the Mission of the Child Learning and Development Center to support educational environments that will facilitate experiential learning and research within the College of Education for the purpose of improving early childhood education.

The English Language Institute (ELI) is a special program at Pacific University (near Portland, Oregon) for students who want to improve their academic English language skills before they take university classes in the United States.

The Tom McCall Center for Policy Innovation is named after Oregon’s most famous governor. The center works to connect Pacific University students with policymakers.

The Tutoring and Learning Centers offers peer tutoring to undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences at the Forest Grove campus.  All tutoring is provided by fellow undergraduate students who have demonstrated mastery in the subject and are recommended by the department to help other students learn.


The Vision Performance Institute (VPI) is a leading research organization in the vision sciences. VPI is dedicated to research in product development and support and clinical care in vision performance.
