Alumnus Rich Burk Makes 2,000th Baseball Broadcast Appearance

Rich Burk ’88 hit a career milestone on July 13, when he announced his 2,000th professional baseball broadcast.

Burk is the voice of the Hillsboro Hops, a minor league baseball team in the Portland area, and previously announced for the Portland and Bend Rockies.

Burk might have hit the 2,000 broadcast milestone a while ago, counting all his other broadcasting positions. And he might have reached 2,000 in baseball earlier if not for a hiatus last season, when he spent a couple of weeks announcing the Olympics for NBC sports.

At Pacific, Burk played baseball and studied broadcast telecommunications, a field that is rolled into the Media Arts Department today.
