Referencing elements of architecture, industrial design and human physiology, Amalgam explores issues surrounding mortality, dystopia and modernism.  Often depicted as fragments of something larger and through a shifting of physical scale; the works in this exhibition seek to create new combinations, connections and interpretations.

Erik Geschke is a mixed-media artist who has exhibited nationally and internationally. Venues include the UCLA Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, CA; ZieherSmith Gallery in New York, NY; the Navy Pier in Chicago, IL; Vox Populi in Philadelphia, PA; Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Aldrich, CT; Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco, CA; the Seattle Art Museum’s SAM Gallery in Seattle, WA; Bellevue Arts Museum in Bellevue, WA; Tacoma Art Museum in Tacoma, WA; Disjecta Contemporary Art Center in Portland, OR; the FIAC Contemporary Art Fair in Paris, France; and Zaum Projects in Lisbon, Portugal. His work has been featured in publications such as Sculpture Magazine, New American Paintings, Philadelphia Weekly, NY Arts Magazine, The Seattle Times and The Oregonian. He has received grants, fellowships, and recognition from the Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Arts Commission, Oregon Arts Commission, Ford Family Foundation, Regional Arts and Culture Council, Jerome Foundation and the College Art Association, among others. He has been a fellow at a number of prestigious artist residencies, such as the Djerassi Resident Artist Program in Woodside, CA; Sculpture Space Inc. in Utica, NY; and the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. Geschke received his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art's Rinehart School of Sculpture 2001, attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture with a full fellowship in 1996, and received a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts in1993. He lives and works in Portland, OR where he is an Associate Professor of Art at Portland State University.
