The School of Physician Assistant Studies (SPA) at Pacific University is seeking applicants for an extended term or tenure track, Assistant (preferred; Associate possible) Professor position who would also serve as Director of Academic Education. SPA is housed within the College of Health Professions of Pacific University and is located in downtown Hillsboro, Oregon; adjacent to Tuality Community Hospital. The College of Health Professions is home to schools of athletic training, audiology, dental health science, health care administration & leadership, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, and psychology. Opportunities for interprofessional collaboration are plentiful.
Duties include coordinating academic courses during all phases of the curriculum, coordinating the tutoring program, overseeing student accommodation and assessment, coordinating accreditation compliance, teaching in the clinical medicine modules and non-clinical medicine courses, advising/evaluating students and representing the School to the medical and university community. The Director of Academic Education is a leadership position in the School, and is responsible for building community partnerships throughout the College and local community. The ideal candidate will have experience in physician assistant education. We are looking for a candidate who will have innovative ideas about how to foster student learning, advance student assessment, and heighten interprofessional collaboration. Community outreach, leadership experience in the physician assistant profession, and grant-writing abilities are highly desirable.
1. Certified Physician Assistant and/or other clinical healthcare professional degree eligible for licensure in Oregon.
2. Master's degree or higher.
3. Minimum of 3 years clinical experience (>5 preferred) as a physician assistant or other clinical healthcare professional. Previous teaching and/or administrative experience is preferred.
4. Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
5. Engages in open, collaborative and collegial interactions with others.
6. Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to motivate students to achieve goals and objectives.
7. Advanced capability using microcomputer systems and at a minimum: PowerPoint®, Excel®, and Microsoft Word®.
