Fellowships enable recipients to set aside time for writing, research, travel and general career advancement. This program operates on a two-year cycle. |

National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships Support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to scholars and general audiences in the humanities. |

National Endowment for the Humanities NEH Fellowships at Independent Research Institutions Grants for Fellowship Programs at Independent Research Institutions (FPIRI) support fellowships at institutions devoted to advanced study and research in the humanities. NEH fellowships provide scholars with research time and access to resources that might not be available at their home institutions. National Endowment for the Humanities Special Initiative Grants for projects that focus on Afghanistan's history and culture. The special initiative is designed to promote research, education, and public programs about Afghanistan and to encourage United States institutions to assist Afghanistan in efforts to preserve and document its cultural resources. Applications must be submitted to one of the Endowment's existing grant programs at its regular deadline. |

Residential Fellowships 40 Fellowships in Research Triangle Park, NC, for scholars in the humanities and scholars in the arts and the natural and social sciences who are engaged in humanistic projects. A few of the fellowships are designated for particular recipients and/or areas, including one for a young woman in philosophy; and others in environmental studies, English literature, art history, Asian Studies and theology. Stipends of up to half a year's salary, plus travel expenses. |
