Nominate a Colleague for the Kate Garrison "Overcoming the Odds" Award

The recipient of the Kate Garrison "Overcoming the Odds" Award recognizes a faculty or staff member who is a pioneer, trail-blazer, or innovator to advance change by his/her work that advances justice and equity specifically for people from under-represented racial and/or ethnic backgrounds. This work must have an impact in the greater Pacific University community by helping people overcome obstacles.

Recipients shall have engaged in sincere, active efforts to promote racial/ethnic equity and justice, and should be able to demonstrate evidence of the impact of their work on the local or global communities. 

Nominations for the 2021 Awards must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2022.

Nomination Criteria

Nominations must be no more than two single - spaced pages.  Nominators should prepare a letter that provides specific examples of the nominee’s accomplishments.

Statements of Support

We recommend nominators collect up to three letters of support from other colleagues and members of the Pacific community to strengthen their nomination. Letters should be no longer than one page, single-spaced.
