Amber McIlwain is the Director of the Graduate Certificate in Gerontology and is an Assistant Professor in the School of Healthcare Administration and Leadership. 

Amber received her MS (2007) and BS (2004) in geography from Texas State University and will receive her PhD in gerontology from the University of Kentucky. Amber maintains professional affiliations with the Gerontological Society of America, the Oregon Gerontological Association, and the Hawaii-Pacific Gerontological Society and is actively involved with the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education. Her research explores life course influences on human-environment interactions. Additional research interests include gerontology and healthcare administration pedagogy. Amber also coordinates the Concentration in Interprofessional Education for the College of Health Professions.
