Dr. Joaquín P. Borrego Jr., PhD is dean of the School of Graduate Psychology in the Pacific University College of Health Professions. He joined Pacific University in 2018 from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where he has served as the director of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) Research and Family Services in the Department of Psychological Sciences since 2001. He also served as the director of the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at Texas Tech from 2011 to 2017, and the director of Diversity Enhancement in the Department of Psychological Sciences from 2010-2011.
 
Dr. Borrego earned a bachelor of arts in psychology, cum laude, from Texas Tech University in 1992 with two minors in sociology and English, as well as a master of arts in psychology and a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1999 and 2001, respectively. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine in 2001.
 
Dr. Borrego’s research interests encompass many aspects of the consideration of culture in program development and implementation of assessments and interventions for ethnic minority populations, particularly those in Spanish-speaking communities. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) and APA’s Division 37: Society for Child and Family Policy and Practice. In addition, he served on the executive board for the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology (CUDCP).
