Dr. Peter Joseph Zisa is an award winning performer on the six and eight string classical guitar. His performance career, which started at age thirteen, has taken him across the U.S. and abroad. He has studied with such legendary classical guitarists as Maestro Andres Segovia, Oscar Ghiglia, Jose Tomas, and Jose Rey Della Torre. He is a versatile musician who enjoys performing with other outstanding musicians: violinists Adam LaMotte, Tatiana Kolchanova, flutist LeeAnn McKenna, the Cambridge Singers, and vocalist Ida Rae Cahana of Pink Martini. Zisa also has performed with celebrated award-winning jazz artists such as Shirley Nanette, Marilyn Keller, LaRhonda Steele, Darrell Grant, George Mitchell, Todd Strait, and Janice Scroggins.

Zisa is a member Oregon Music Teachers Association and is strongly committed to cultivating students’ love of music on their path of personal and professional success. Zisa’s reputation as a coach and mentor has spread in part because of the success of many of his students who have won state and international guitar competitions. With twenty-year experience music therapy, he has created a strong pedagogic program for music therapists studying guitar. Zisa enjoys teaching a wide range of coursework: music theory, music history, psychology of music, and guitar.
