Only academic honor cords are allowed to be worn with regalia. Honor cords will be distributed to graduates by the College of Arts and Sciences as they line up in the Field House directly before marching into the stadium for the commencement ceremony.
Students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance may graduate with one of the following distinctions:
summa cum laude | Candidates for baccalaureate degrees who achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.91 to 4.00.
magna cum laude | Candidates for baccalaureate degrees who achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.70 to 3.909.
cum laude | Candidates for baccalaureate degrees who achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 to 3.699.
Parking Lot M, next to Hanson Stadium, is designated for people with disabled parking passes. All parking is on a first-come-first-served basis. Parking Lot M is also the designated drop-off location for people needing assistance or who cannot walk long distances. The shuttle also drops people off in Lot M for people parking around campus. Please note that people who have difficulty walking will still need to walk from the shuttle location in the parking lot to inside the Stadium.
Disabled seating is available at the ceremony. All seating is on a first-come-first-served basis. For safety reasons, all aisles must be kept clear during the ceremony. There is seating for 1200 people in our stadium bleachers including wheelchair seating for 12 wheelchairs. Seating for 2000 people is available on the track and football field in front of the stadium bleachers. Ample accessible seating is available in chairs on the field.

It isn’t too early to make travel and hotel arrangements for your guests. Limited overnight accommodations are available in Forest Grove; in addition, a number of hotels and motels in Hillsboro, Beaverton and Portland are within driving distance of the Forest Grove campus. For more information, contact the Chambers of Commerce of each city, or the Washington County Visitors Association at 503-644-5555.
All students must Apply for Graduation. You must Apply for Graduation through BoxerOnline.
Graduates participating in the Commencement Ceremony must wear academic regalia.
You will be able to purchase your regalia at the Countdown to Graduation event on February 6, 2018 at the University Center in the Multipurpose Room.
Caps and Gowns ordered from the Bookstore after April 4, 2018 will be charged a $15 late fee. If you have questions about ordering and purchasing regalia, please call the Pacific University Bookstore at 503-352-2224.

The Registrar’s Office reviews your degree requirements after you Apply for Graduation and contacts your Program Director if there are concerns. There will be golf cart shuttles for guests with limited mobility. The carts will be on campus at the Stadium and also driving around to the parking lots. Please wave a cart driver down or talk to an usher if you or your guest needs a ride.
After Commencement, a press release announcing graduates is sent to their hometown newspapers. Students who do not want their information sent to news organizations, or have questions, should contact Media Relations Director Joe Lang at 503-352-2902 or email@example.com.
All Pacific University parking lots are available on a first-come-first-served basis. No parking permits are needed. Please be courteous when parking on the streets in the neighborhoods around campus.

All seating is on a first-come-first-served basis. The ceremony is outside at Hanson Stadium. There is no roof or cover over the stadium field seating. There is a cover over the bleacher seating. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

All accounts must be paid in full before you graduate. If you anticipate an outstanding balance after you graduate, please contact the Business Office to make arrangement for payment. Students with outstanding balances after graduation cannot receive their diplomas or transcripts.
Students who received federal student loans must complete exit interviews before graduating or leaving campus. The Financial Aid Office will contact you to set up those appointments.
Tickets are not needed for May Commencement. All family and friends are invited to attend commencement to celebrate the achievements of their graduate.
All commencement ceremonies are recorded. The ceremonies can be watched live online. The live feed also includes captioning of the ceremony. Guests that are hearing-impaired or would benefit from watching the live video feed with captioning are encouraged to bring a smart-phone or tablet to watch the live feed during the ceremony in the stadium. A live video-feed can also be watched in the gym during the ceremony.
