The Master of Social Work Program has two types of funding opportunities available to MSW students for the 2019-2020 academic year. The deadline for applications is Oct. 4.
Awards must be used within the 2019-2020 academic year (by May 15, 2019). MSW students may apply at this time for opportunities happening any time between Oct. 28, 2019 and May 15, 2020. (Note: Depending on initial interest, the award cycle may reopen in the spring semester).
Professional Development Funds (up to $300 per award)
Up to eight students will be selected for the Student Professional Development Award. Funds may be used towards attending local, regional, or national workshops or trainings relevant to the MSW field. This award will be granted to students that indicate how the training will support their interests within the field and strengthen their abilities as a practitioner.
Research Presentation Funds (up to $500 per award)
Up to five students will be selected for the Student Research Presentation Award. Funds may be used to support a student in presenting research, projects, or trainings at local/regional workshops/conferences. This award will be granted to students interested in presenting their research/project/or training at a local/regional workshop or conference of their choice. The presentation will be focused on a topic under the purview of social work, but the specific area is at the student’s discretion. Research, projects, or areas of interest that have been explored, written, or presented in class are all applicable, as are ideas that are beyond the scope of formal classwork. Awards will be granted based on clarity and overall organization of the idea.
