Become a 2023 orientation leader! This is a unique opportunity for students to gain leadership experience, work alongside Pacific University staff and faculty, and become a mentor to your peers. Work under direction of the Pacific University Orientation Planning Committee to help arrange both large and small-group events for incoming students and their parents and support systems.

Hiring Timeline 

  • April 21: Application deadline
  • April 25 and 28: Interviews with candidates (plan for 15-20 minutes)

There are several paid positions available this year, including an Orientation Intern, Orientation Program Ambassadors, and Orientation Leaders. Undergraduate and graduate/professional students are eligible to apply and you don't need work-study status to qualify! You are welcome to apply for any and all positions that you are interested in!

Orientation Intern: 1 position available  APPLY NOW

The Orientation team is looking for a student to serve as a paid intern over summer 2023, in preparation for Fall Orientation. As our intern, you'll assist the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management office with a varying array of administrative tasks.

  • Time Commitment: Candidates should be aware of the following tentative dates while the schedule is being finalized
    • Spring 2023: April-May | Up to 10 hours for initial training, photo shoot, and biography submission
    • Summer 2023: June 1-Aug. 27 | Training, orientation, early-arrival programs, and Welcome Week
  • Intern Wages: The Orientation Intern is provided a stipend of $4,500 for their work on Orientation plus summer housing on campus is provided. You do not need to qualify for federal work-study to be eligible for this position!

Orientation Program Ambassador: 4 positions available  APPLY NOW

Orientation Program Ambassadors (OPAs) are trained to help facilitate Orientation. They become mentors for Orientation Leaders, and engage with incoming students and families serving as mentors as well as assist in planning and staffing pre-arrival and orientation programs. 

  • Time Commitment: Candidates should be aware of the following tentative dates while the schedule is being finalized 
    • Spring 2023: April-May | Up to 10 hours for initial training, photoshoot, and biography submission, 
    • Summer 2023: Aug.1-27 | Training, orientation, early-arrival programs, and Welcome Week
  • OPA Wages: All OPAs are provided a stipend of $2,500 for their work on Orientation plus early arrival rooming is covered. You do not need to qualify for federal work-study to be eligible for this position!

Orientation Leaders: 20 positions available  APPLY NOW

Orientation Leaders (OLs) engage with incoming students and families serving as mentors, as well as assist in planning and staffing pre-arrival and orientation programs.
