Danika Gilbert ’94 Leads expedition to summit Machhermo Peak

Danika Gilbert ’94 organized and lead a 15-day expedition to summit Machhermo Peak in Nepal. The group consisted of 10 people, three of them being young Afghan women. Their story was featured in the November/December 2018 edition of Sierra magazine. Gilbert works with Ascend: Leadership Through Athletics, a program in Kabul, Afghanistan, that trains young women into leaders through community service and the sport of mountain climbing.
