From Dr. Coyle | I Am Grateful For You

I am so grateful to be a part of the Pacific University community.

Over the past four months, as I have engaged in Conversations About Community with employees and students, alumni and friends, the No. 1 message I have heard from you is about the importance of people and of our community. And I completely agree.

I am grateful for the extraordinary faculty and staff who support our students every day, in and out of the classroom, and who are contributing to shared knowledge and discovery in our world.

I am grateful for the student leaders, who have been candid and creative in their commitment to enhancing student life at Pacific, and who are eager to share their lives with me. I love that I can sit down in the University Center and ask someone to tell me something I don’t know — and people trust me enough to respond. I learn something new every day.

I am grateful to the alumni who came back to campus during Homecoming and shared their stories, and to all of the donors and friends who show up to help our students. Last month, during Athletic Giving Days, more than 1,200 of you contributed to supporting our student-athletes. I appreciate you.

Finally, I am grateful to be a part of a community where people are committed to making a difference in our world. Next week is Election Day, and I know that our community will step up as engaged citizens to make their voices heard. A week later, we celebrate Veterans Day, and I give thanks for those who serve our country.

Pacific University is truly a remarkable place — and it is because of each of you. Thank you for making this community a place we can all call home.

My best,
