Exciting Changes Coming to Pacific Hall

Pacific University is excited to share a construction update which will improve the student experience and support academic programming long into the future.

In March 2022, the Pacific Board of Trustees approved a project to complete the full renovation of Pacific Hall on the Forest Grove Campus. The renovation will create additional classrooms and computer technology labs as well as address necessary infrastructure upgrades. This is the final phase of a 2017 project that already created new study pods and classrooms in Pacific Hall.

View Phase 2 Construction Plan

Timeline

Construction will begin immediately after May Commencement 2023 with a planned reopening in Spring 2024. Pacific Hall will be inaccessible during the renovation and all offices in the building will be temporarily relocated to other parts of campus in anticipation of this project.

What This Means for Faculty and Staff

To adjust for the loss of classroom space in Pacific Hall during the Fall 2023 semester, we will be using many larger meeting spaces such as Berglund 200, the Tran Library Conference Room, the MPR, and other spaces. Priority will be given to scheduling student classes vs. general meetings until the project is complete.

Due to limited capacity for on-campus events, we are asking all groups to default to Zoom meetings while Pacific Hall is offline. In addition, since large gathering spaces will be in high demand during construction, we ask programs and offices to consider delaying large events until the Spring 2024 semester whenever possible.

Some of the spaces faculty will be asked to teach in may have non-standard audiovisual systems. If you would like one-on-one tech training for any classroom or meeting room you will be using, please contact the Helpdesk to request training.

Building occupants will receive additional information about the moving process soon.
