Faculty Data Security and Privacy Training
Cybersecurity training is critical for all university employees to reduce the economic and reputational risks associated with data breaches and fraudulent activity. Pacific University has been rolling out cyber security training to all employees over the past year. University staff members started the Everfi/Lawroom training “Checkpoint: Data Security & Privacy” last spring and all new staff and faculty have been assigned this course since June. After consulting with the Provost’s Council, it was agreed to roll out the cybersecurity training requirement to all faculty who have not previously completed the training.
Training invitations will be sent to faculty from Everfi in December. Please watch for a message titled “Pacific University Online Training” which will be sent from the email address firstname.lastname@example.org. This email will contain your link to begin the training. The course takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. Due to the length of the course, an extended training period has been granted to allow faculty to complete the training by the deadline. The deadline for completing the course will be February 28, 2019.
Criminals continue to develop more sophisticated methods to convince employees to give them access to valuable information. It is important for all university employees to take the time to learn how to identify data security risks and the ways in which they can help protect the university and our students.
