Global Scholars Travel Stipends Available for First Year Students
All first year and new transfer students are invited to apply for the Global Scholars First Year Travel stipend. The stipend offers students a discount of up to $1500 to participate in Spring 2020 travel courses to Namibia, Costa Rica, Spain, or Romania. Students with second language proficiency and diverse cultural or linguistic backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply by Nov. 1.
The goal of the Global Scholars Program is to provide equitable access to the benefits of study abroad. We believe that well supported, early exposure to international education can lead to participation in traditional semester or year- long study abroad later on. No prior international experience is required.
All faculty teaching spring 2020 courses have agreed to allow first year students to participate. Those selected for Global Scholar First Year Travel awards will receive additional support to prepare for international travel. First year and transfer students will get to know their fellow travelers and faculty and learn more about the topic and country through the companion travel preparation course.
Learn more about the travel courses and decide which is most interesting to you. Then submit an application for the award. You will need to write a brief statement of purpose explaining where you want to travel and why. Applications are due Nov. 1.
Recipients will be notified by Nov. 8. Apply now.
