Gustavo Morales ’12 Leads Euvalcree

Gustavo Morales ’12 is the executive director of Euvalcree, an organization that confronts local discrimination in Ontario, Ore. He initially planned to pursue a career in medicine after being accepted and enrolled into medical school at the age of 20. However, having experienced racial discrimination first-hand on several occasions, he grew passionate about activism. Through Euvalcree, he became a trailblazer to change the community’s attitudes toward Latinos who make up about one-third of the county’s population. On top of his work with Euvalcree, he was appointed by Gov. Kate Brown to serve on the Oregon Advocacy Commission on Hispanic Affairs, serves on the Cultural Development Board for the Oregon Cultural Trust, and is a member for the state’s Environmental Justice Task Force.
