Latest Essay by Politics & Government Chair Jules Boykoff Appears in Los Angeles Times

The Los Angeles Times published an essay written by Pacific University Politics & Government professor and department chair Jules Boykoff in its March 22, 2017 edition.

A widely recognized scholar on the politics associated with global athletics competition, Dr. Boykoff asserts that leaders of Los Angeles and Paris - the finalist cities vying to host the 2024 Olympics - should demand the International Olympic Committee assume a larger share of cost overruns that have plagued host cities and countries in recent years.

Boykoff also provided analysis in a corresponding LA Times story, and recently provided thoughts on Budapest, Turkey's 2020 bid withdrawal to longtime Olympics correspondent Philip Hersh.
