A Letter From President Hallick About COVID-19 Precautions at Pacific University

In light of announcements made by Gov. Brown regarding the surge in cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19, and in response to the sharp increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations, Pacific now requires that people wear masks in both common indoor spaces and in outdoor settings in which individuals from different households are unable to consistently maintain physical distance.

As a reminder, the best protection against COVID-19 infection, and in particular against serious illness if infected, remains vaccination. Pacific soon will expand its current vaccination requirement for employees and students to community members visiting the campus.

The university is working to apply evolving guidance from the Governor and Oregon Health Authorities while striving to create as normal a college experience as possible. We appreciate everyone's cooperation as we look forward to having the latest surge behind us!

Please remember, if you are an undergraduate student and you feel sick, fill out a COVID Symptom and Report Form. Graduate and professional students and faculty and staff should report via the DATOS system. If you need more information about DATOS, please contact your program administration.

Warmest regards,

Lesley M. Hallick, PhD
