Make Winter Weather Safety A Priority

The Pacific University Health and Safety Committee would like everyone to have a safe winter season without unnecessary added stress. Cold weather can bring changing conditions to Pacific campuses and clinic locations and their surrounding areas. Members of the Pacific University community are encouraged to increase their environmental awareness and allow themselves extra time when traveling to and from campus and clinic locations and while walking from place to place. With additional precipitation, surfaces can become slippery quickly — inside and outside buildings. When temperatures drop, ice and snow can also form and create hazards.

Space heaters are also used more frequently in winter months. Community members are advised to plug space heaters directly into wall outlets, not power strips, and to make sure that space heaters have tip over protection.

To prepare for winter weather situations, please review and share the Inclement Weather procedures and Emergency Weather processes and ensure that you are signed up for Boxer Alerts.

Due to our multiple satellite locations, it's important that employees who work onsite communicate safe travel options with their respective supervisors and team members.
