Nominate a Colleague or Community Member for Service Awards 2021

2020 has been a difficult year for Pacific University students and employees. Our community has stepped up to meet the needs, unexpected challenges, and changes that have happened over the year. We have witnessed moments both heart-wrenching and humorous and watched it bring us together virtually, while we are spread out across the state and country. With all that we’ve witnessed in mind, we would like to announce that the nominations for Pacific University’s service awards will open earlier this year.

As you wind down into that year-end, holiday mindset, please consider nominating your colleagues and community members who have gone the extra mile for Pacific University and our students.

Nominations are due March 1 and forms are online for the Staff Excellence AwardsDiversity Awards, and Community Awards. Read more about the annual staff, diversity and community awards:

Outstanding Leadership Award

This award recipient promotes a participative environment, encourages their staff to reach their goals and acts upon employee input. Recipient is a role model for others and fosters a collegial environment. Nominee consistently engages staff in the decision-making process and represents departmental needs within the university community.

Outstanding Contribution to the University Award

This award recipient promotes and exemplifies the mission and values of Pacific University such as supporting sustainability, encouraging diversity and openness of ideas and cultures, exemplifying quality of service and fostering a sense of community.

Splendid Audacity Award

This award recipient promotes and exemplifies the spirit of our community through the sharing of ideas and innovation. Unbound by conventional thinking, this recipient consistently breaks through real or perceived barriers to bring about positive changes.

Boxer Spirit Award

This award recipient exemplifies the spirit of teamwork, collegiality, and cooperation across departmental lines. This recipient promotes the mission of the university by forging partnerships with key stakeholders to bring his/her visions to fruition.  This can be awarded to an individual or a team.

Dedication to Students Award

This award recipient goes beyond the call of duty in service to Pacific’s students. Whether for students in general, or for a specific group of students, this recipient exceeds expectations in fostering an inclusive environment and seeking the best outcome for students.

Guidelines:

Winners will be chosen based on examples of the category criteria. Nominations should be submitted in a one-page, single-spaced letter illustrating specific examples of the nominee’s accomplishments.

Statements of Support Criteria:  We recommend nominators collect up to three letters of support from other colleagues and members of the Pacific community to strengthen their nomination. Letters should be no longer than one single-spaced page. 

Deadline: Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021.  Nominations packets will be uploaded using links noted on the nomination cover sheet. 

Faculty awards include the Distinguished University Professor, Junior Faculty Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship and Services, and President’s Award of Excellence in Undergraduate and Graduate Teaching. If you know of a faculty member who is deserving of a nomination for one of these awards, please reach out to your area dean or director.

All awards will be presented at the annual Honors & Awards Ceremony on May 5, 2021.
