Optometry Professor Emeritus Richard London Honored by China-Based Ophthalmology College
The Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center at Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences, a top-ranked ophthalmology school in China, has dedicated a library in honor of Pacific University optometry professor emeritus Dr. Richard London for his many contributions to the center and university as a visiting scholar.
London, who recently retired from Pacific, traveled to China many times over his 21-year Pacific career to give lectures to the college's students and faculty. He also donated a number of bound academic journal volumes to enhance the college's English language collection, as many of the best ophthalmology texts are not yet available in the Chinese language.
The library dedication held during London's last visit was a warm gesture of appreciation and acknowledgment of both himself and Pacific for years of collaboration with Zhongshan.
In addition to the dedication, the college also recorded some of the lectures London gave to use in future classes.
