Pacific Remembers Trustee Lisa Hargis '76

It is with deep sadness that I share the news that Pacific University Trustee Lisa Hargis ’76 passed away Friday morning at Oregon Health & Sciences University Hospital.

Ms. Hargis, formerly Lisa Carey, received her undergraduate degree in business administration from Pacific in 1976, studying business and economics. In 1979, she went to work for Oregon Mutual Insurance Company, where she would spend more than 30 years, working her way form an underwriter to a vice president, until her recent retirement.

She has been a devoted supporter of Pacific University and, in 2011, joined the Board of Trustees, where she did tremendous work to guide a risk management task force.

She was involved with the Oregon Fair Plan Association and Emanuel Lutheran Church in Cornelius. She also enjoyed boating, cooking, traveling and caring for her husband and their cocker spaniel, “Murphy Brown.”

Our thoughts are with her family, especially husband Gary, during this time.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Cornelius.

Warmest regards,

Lesley M. Hallick
