Pacific University School of Pharmacy Students Attend American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual Meeting and Exposition

In March 2022, Pacific University School of Pharmacy had great student representation at this year’s American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual Meeting and Exposition in San Antonio, TX. It was the first in-person professional pharmacy conference many students had been able to attend since starting pharmacy school. Students networked with pharmacists and other pharmacy students from across the country. This networking led to connecting with potential presenters for student organizations speaker series and IPPE/APPE preceptors. In addition to networking, the students gained knowledge of various aspects of pharmacy, such as industry pharmacy, pharmacy legislation and policy writing.

This year, students also participated in the APhA-ASP PharmFlix Video Contest, where pharmacy schools across the country create videos that promote a certain theme of pharmacy healthcare. This year’s theme was “Vaccine Confident,” and it was inspired by the major role that pharmacists play in the pandemic and within communities to strengthen vaccine confidence. Our video, titled “The Vaccine Kid,” was a spin off “The Karate Kid,” which was nominated for “Most Humorous” and “Best Overall.”

Students had a fantastic learning experience at this year’s APhA Annual Meeting, and are looking forward to attending next year’s meeting in Phoenix, Ariz.!
