Pacific's Own Carnegie Hall Celebrates 100 years

The centennial anniversary of the storied building, named after legendary philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, is part of Homecoming 2012 festivities. Built in 1912, Carnegie Hall was the University's first library.

Alumni and friends of Pacific University are invited to the Forest Grove Campus on Friday afternoon to celebrate the Centennial anniversary of Carnegie Hall.

Built in 1912 with support from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation, the historic building has served as the University's Library and currently is home to the College of Arts & Sciences Psychology Department among others.

History professor Larry Lipin gave insight to the man the building is named after in presenting "Wealth, Ambition and the Public Good: Andrew Carnegie and the Libary." Pacific magazine editor Jenni Luckett has the story.
