Pharmacy Faculty and Staff Recognized by National Association

Pacific University School of Pharmacy faculty and staff have once again received national recognition from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) for the “2016 Award for Excellence in Assessment."

Through the leadership of Dr. David Fuentes, Assistant Dean for Academics and Assessment, the program faculty and staff have created an innovative student leadership development portfolio and instituted a framework to help students make impactful changes to their personal and professional lives. This project titled, PIE-RECAP: A Structured Reflective Journal Writing Model and Rubric to Guide Development of Self-Awareness and Actionable Plans for Positive Change, was one of three selected projects for the AACP 2016 Award for Excellence in Assessment and will be presented by Dr. David Fuentes at the AACP Annual Meeting in Anaheim, Calif.

Engaged and active faculty who have thus far played instrumental roles in refining the portfolio, reflection process, and assessment rubric include Drs. Jeremy Hughes, Anita Cleven, Fawzy Elbarbry, Ian Doyle, Mark Della Paolera, and Brendan Stamper. Additionally, staff member Jackson Ross and graduating student Kelli Cadelinia provided tremendous and meaningful contributions to the finished work.

Pacific University also recognized this work (via a Faculty Development Award in 2016) and our faculty, staff and students will be able to continue working on this project thanks to the generous support they will receive from the University in 2016-2017. This is a significant collaborative achievement for the Pacific community and a testimony to the culture of assessment that faculty, staff, and students have built at the School of Pharmacy.
