Pumpkin Spice It Up with Outdoor Pursuits!
As the temperatures drop, Outdoor Pursuits is ready and waiting for eager participants to join in outdoor and indoor adventuring! Are you looking to hone in on your kayaking skills? Join Outdoor Pursuits at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center for an evening skill session at 8:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 during the kayaking pool session to practice your kayak rolls and other skills! Kayaks will be provided for registered participants, and you can spend the evening perfecting your kayak skills in a controlled environment. This event is for both the beginning and experienced kayaker. Register for this free evening event on Friday, Oct. 22!
If climbing dirty boulders outside in the cold doesn't appeal to you, why not try indoor rock climbing at a gym in Portland for a change? Indoor rock climbing trips are scheduled at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3 and Nov. 17. This indoor excursion will certainly be warmer and dryer, plus just as much fun, as a day out on the rocks! Transportation, gear and instruction is provided for this evening getaway. Grab a friend and reserve your space for Nov. 3 or Nov. 17!
If none of these Outdoor Pursuits trips appeal to you, not to worry! On Sunday, Nov. 7, participants will have the option to build your own custom day trip! With custom trips, you get to decide what you're doing and where you're going. This is the perfect opportunity to spend the day your way outside with the support and instruction of the amazing OP staff. Don't be shy if it's something you have never tried before, as your instructors will provide all the gear and direction you need! Outdoor Pursuits is hiring for two positions of Voyage Coordinator! This position works in tandem with the Outdoor Pursuits assistant director, as well as Orientation leadership staff, to plan, organize and arrange the best outdoor experience possible for the participants of 2022 Voyages! These are paid positions, starting November 2021 and going through August 2022. Each position will have its own responsibilities, and will also require collaboration to help create the final experience. There are also availabilities for both new and return Voyage Trip Leaders to learn, train, grow, and lead the Voyages Experience. These students are the front line field staff that make the magic of Voyages a reality! In addition to helping lead 5-day outdoor adventure trips during August 2022 for incoming Pacific students, leaders will also gain valuable leadership experience, technical skill sets and foster community. Leaders will earn a $350-$900 stipend and change lives through challenge, discovery and adventure. No previous Voyage experience necessary!
