Record Level of Giving to Pacific in December

December 2019 was the most successful month of giving in Pacific University’s history. Between Dec. 1 and Dec. 31, trustees, alumni and friends contributed gifts and pledges totaling more than $10.8 million to the university.Love of Pacific written in the snow

The surge comes as Pacific’s Lead On Campaign enters its final year, with a goal of raising $80 million by the end of 2020. The current campaign total, as of Jan. 31, 2020, is $67.1 million.

Lead On: The Campaign for Tomorrow at Pacific University is the most ambitious comprehensive campaign in the university’s history. The campaign is growing and strengthening endowments supporting students and programs, expanding and improving Pacific’s facilities, and investing in innovation and long-term growth.

Trustees, alumni, staff, faculty, friends, corporations and foundations supported Pacific in the record-setting December with one-time gifts, recurring gifts, gifts and pledges of stock, bequests and planned gifts, gifts of real estate, and even gifts in kind.

Donors gave to the Pacific Excellence Fund, which supports student success through unrestricted funds for the areas of greatest need, in addition to the excellence funds for all five colleges, the library and athletics. They supported a variety of scholarships including the Aunty Edna Endowed Scholarship, the Aurora Peters Speech Pathology Endowed Scholarship, the Golden Guard Scholarship, the Judy Sherman Exercise Science Endowed Scholarship, and the Pharmacy Alumni and Friends Endowed Scholarship. Program support was given for the Brim Family Outdoor Learning Center, the Tom McCall Center for Civic Engagement, the Center for Gender Equity, Student Life, and a variety of Pacific’s sports programs.

“As we enter the final year of the Lead On Campaign, I am awed by the positive response from donors and I am confident we are in a great position to bring our campaign to a successful conclusion in 2020,” said Cassie Warman, vice president for University Advancement. “We remain grateful to all who are investing in our students, faculty, programs and research.”
