School of Pharmacy serves the community through Service Day 2018

I would like to thank the Office of Student Affairs Melanie Foeppel, Sandy Hess, and Jackson Ross for organizing a productive orientation week in which we welcomed our P1 and P2 students to our campus. On the last day of the orientation week, Friday, August 10th, we had our annual Service Day to support and promote community service.

On this day, 205 pharmacy students and 16 faculty and staff provided more than 600 community service hours in 12 different locations in Hillsboro, Beaverton, and Portland.

I even was told that there were more faculty and staff who wanted to serve their communities but we ran out of sites. Investing in the community you live in is a testimony of who you are and what you value. Thank you for providing your time to serve these communities. I am confident those communities are appreciative of your time and help as well.

I would like to thank the Office of Student Affairs for organizing the Service Day: I am particularly grateful to Sandy Hess who spent countless of hours to coordinate and organize all of these community sites and assignments. I am also thankful to the following faculty and staff who took their time to serve their community: Fallon Hughes, Greg Tallman, Sharon Wu, John Begert, Ryan Gibbard, Trevor Laursen, Ian Doyle, Brendan Stamper, Jackson Ross, Kris Marcus, Dana Roman, Sigrid Roberts, Nicola Carter, Jessica Merlo, and Melanie Foeppel. Indeed, it was a beautiful day.
