Launch your career as a healthcare provider with the Pacific University School of Physician Assistant Studies.
At Pacific, you’ll be part of a close and supportive cohort of students studying on a professional campus dedicated to healthcare. Learn from caring and expert faculty members, collaborate with peers in other health profession programs, and build your skills through hands-on, real-world experience in our simulation lab, community clinics, and international clinical rotations.
The School of Physician Assistant Studies is one of eight schools in the College of Health Professions, all located together on our Hillsboro, Oregon Campus.
Our PA program began in 1997 and moved to the state-of-the-art facilities on our “green” campus, in 2006. We have dedicated space for each of our programs, as well as collaborative areas where students learn together in interprofessional courses and case studies.
There are several student lounges, study rooms and a café market on-site.
You’ll spend much of your time on the PA floor, where we have a large, comfortable classroom dedicated to didactic study.
Next to the classroom breakout rooms are reserved just for PA students. You and your classmates can practice your skills — and record and review your work using high-tech equipment available in each room.
We encourage group study, and group testing is incorporated into every system-based clinical module of our program. Students have the opportunity to take part in specialized tracks, including our Rural Health Care Track and our Global Health Care Track.
Faculty offices are on the same floor, and our expert PA and MD faculty members put teaching and learning first. We believe our students are future colleagues — and we focus on supporting you as you transition into your careers.
Here in our on-site simulation lab, get to know each other and our Sim Man, who gets a new name from each class. This high-fidelity “patient” breathes, speaks, and simulates blood pressure, pulse, and much more through a series of more than 10 real-world faculty-facilitated cases that directly supplement your coursework.
Also on-site is a cadaver lab, with 12 cadavers for use by our health professions students — including some specifically reserved for PA students — and an on-site medical library with staff experts in medical literature and health literacy.
When you’re not studying, the Hillsboro Campus provides easy access to the best of all the Pacific Northwest offers. We’re right on the MAX light-rail line, providing convenient access to the greater Portland area.
Live nearby and enjoy the cultural activities, shopping and entertainment of the city — and take advantage of Oregon’s great outdoors. You’re just about an hour from snowboarding on Mt. Hood or walking along the Oregon Coast.
