Sister Duo Dominates in Tennis

Cassidy & Syndie Binder high-fiving on the tennis courtBoxer Tennis has become a family affair for the Binders.

Sisters Cassidy Binder ‘24 and Syndie Binder ‘22 dominated the Spring 2021 season for the women’s tennis team. Cassidy, a first-year Boxer from Beaverton, was named the 2021 Division III ITA Rookie of the Year after an amazing 20-22 overall record in singles and doubles — one of the best individual single-season performances in the program’s history. She was 10-1 in singles and 10-1 in doubles, where she paired up with her sister, junior Sydnie.

Sydnie also was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association 2020-2021 Division III Scholar-Athlete for her academic performance.

Added bonus: Their mom, Traci Binder, is the head coach for the Boxer women’s tennis team.

Traci said she gave her daughters space to choose their own educational path. Cassidy had been considering Division I schools in high school, but the COVID-19 pandemic made campus visits impossible. She decided instead to head to Pacific.

I am already there all the time and everyone always feels like family,” Cassidy said in a story for TennisRecruiting.net. “I just really like the energy and I thought it was the right place.”
