Stefan Lesueur: Naturally, August 30 to September 28

Stefan Lesueur: Naturally

August 30 to September 28

The Cawein Gallery is proud to announce our newest exhibition by Portland based artist Stefan Lesueur.

Lesueur will be showing two series of work, Obscura, and Landscapes for Richter, together for the first time. His work examines how the ubiquity of the digital camera has altered our perceptions of time and place and offers a meditative space to contemplate how we as a society ingest and document our memories.

Biography

With a focus on space and environmental relationships, Stefan Lesueur’s work uses a variety of media including painting, photography, and installation to communicate observations and develop a narrative. Through these processes, he is examining the ways in which time, material, and human presence affect the nature of our surroundings.

Stefan grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and Los Angeles, California before moving to Oregon in 2009, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Art, with a minor in French, magna cum laude, from the University of Oregon. Since graduating in 2013, Stefan has participated in several exhibitions, including recent showings at Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, Oregon, Design Week Portland, and the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, where he had a solo show in 2015.  He has received awards from the Society for Experiential Graphic Design and American Society of Landscape Architects Oregon Chapter for his participation in the Design Week Portland event Revolution in the Landscape: Re-Experience Halprin’s Fountains. His work has also been featured in 15 Bytes: Utah’s Art Magazine and LandEscape Art Review. Stefan currently resides in Portland.
