UIS Recommendations on Computer Operating System Upgrades

On Sept. 20, 2016, Apple will release its latest version of its Mac OS, now called macOS, Sierra. UIS recommends that users do not upgrade until macOS has been tested and validated with all university systems and services.

Before you upgrade the operating system on your computer, we strongly suggest that you check our list of Supported Operating Systems and Known Issues.

Students and employees who use personal machines or intend to access university technical resources should not upgrade to or install new operating systems at the initial time of their release.

Once testing of compatibility with all Pacific systems has been completed to ensure full functionality, new operating systems will be listed as fully supported on the UIS knowledgebase.

If you have questions about operating system compatibility, contact the Technology Helpdesk by calling 503-352-1500 or emailing help@pacificu.edu.
