William Alton ’95, MFA ’07 "The Tragedy of Being Happy"

William Alton ’95, MFA ’07 released his most recent book, The Tragedy of Being Happy, published by Pact Press this last January. His novel speaks to topics such as mental illness, poverty, addiction and survival, hidden things and hidden people, and overcoming one’s demons. He is the author of a collection of flash fiction, Girls; two poetry collections, Heroes of Silence and Heart Washes Through; and two novels, Flesh and Bone and Comfortable Madness. He currently lives in Beaverton, Ore., where he works with at-risk youth.
